Marijuana consumers are less likely to get covid-19

According to the recent study published in the Journal of Nature Products, cannabis compounds prevents the virus which causes Coronavirus from penetrating to human body cells.
Cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) are two compounds which can be extracted from hemp were tested for a potential of combating COVID-19 by researchers from Oregon State University. In the study, they bound to spike proteins found on the virus and blocked a step the pathogen uses to infect humans.
During the study, the scientists tested the marijuana compounds’ effect against alpha and beta variants of coronavirus. “These compounds can be taken orally and have a long history of safe use in humans,” van Breemen said, according to Bloomberg.

“They are not controlled substances like THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, and have a good safety profile in humans,” he added. “And our research showed the hemp compounds were equally effective against variants of SARS-CoV-2, including variant B.1.1.7, which was first detected in the United Kingdom, and variant B.1.351, first detected in South Africa.”

Not to mention that Cannabigerol (CBG) has a variety of beneficial medical effects on the human body including curing certain diseases.

There is much more data to be studied with the potential of finding more data on preventing SARS-CoV-2 by consuming marijuana.
